About Me
Hello! I'm Tessa Herzberger. I'm a high honours Masters of Applied Science student (91.2% average), majoring in Electronics Systems Engineering, as well as a Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Regina. I completed my Bachelor's of Applied Science in Electronics Systems Engineering in 2018, and am currently registered as an Engineer-in-Training with APEGS. In my Bachelor's Degree, I obtained three specializations: Communications, Control Systems and Microelectronics. In order to further my teaching abilities, I completed my Graduate Teaching Certificate in 2019 at the University of Regina.
I have worked as a lab instructor at the University of Regina, teaching labs focusing on programming for Real-Time Operating Systems and Computer Networks Engineering. As a Teaching Assistant, I have also marked exams, taught labs and conducted exam invigilating for many courses, including those that focus on introductory electronic systems engineering, analog and digital communications, general mathematics and programming.
As a tutor, I excel in many STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields, and I am skilled at Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, General Science and Electronics Systems Engineering. While the majority of my teaching experience is with high school and university/college students, I am also capable of tutoring at the elementary school level as well!
I believe the classroom should be a safe environment where students feel both confident in their abilities and comfortable enough to ask questions. The instructor greatly impacts the classroom and how the students view the classroom. The role of the instructor involves two aspects: providing tools for the students to use in real-world scenarios, and to inspire students to grow and continue learning after the course has concluded. It is important that students have the knowledge required to succeed and the self-confidence to believe that they can make a difference.
Every student learns differently, and may need different teaching methods in order to succeed. I believe that everyone can succeed! It is my goal to find tutoring methods that work for each student, and to help them to be successful.
In my free time, I enjoy playing piano and guitar, aerial acrobatics, cosplaying super heroes, video gaming and playing with my puppy Spike.
I'm looking forward to helping you achieve academic success! :)
